Home NG Feeding After the NICU: Program Evolution, Outcomes, and Implementation Strategies

This session reviews the development of home nasogastric tube feeding programs and the neonatal populations they serve. Participants will examine early outcomes from U.S.-based remote patient monitoring initiatives designed to support safe NICU discharge with NG feeds, explore opportunities for research and collaboration, and identify key barriers and facilitators to help begin planning a program within their own NICU.

Learning Objectives:

1. Summarize the evolution of home nasogastric tube feeding programs and neonatal populations that have been served.

2. Explain the early outcomes of US-based remote patient monitoring programs to facilitate discharge from the NICU with nasogastric tube feeds and identify opportunities for research and collaboration.

3. Understand barriers and facilitators that may be present individual NICUs and begin to formulate a plan for your NICU.

Reimagining the Neonatology Workforce: Financial Pressures and Evolving Staffing Models

This educational session examines current workforce challenges in neonatology through the lens of NICU financial structures, including professional and facility fees. Attendees will explore how rising costs and ACGME changes are straining traditional staffing models and evaluate emerging approaches designed to balance financial sustainability, provider morale, and burnout reduction.

2. Understand the challenges to traditional staffing models due to cost and ACGME changes

3. Evaluate new models of staffing based on finances, morale and burnout
